What is interior residential painting?
The process of applying paint to the interior surfaces of a property. This is usually focused on enhancing aesthetics, style and atmosphere. This can be trim, doors, ceilings, walls, all rooms, some rooms, one wall, anything indoors.
How do I paint the inside of a home?
There are a lot of different ways to do this depending on if it's lived in, vacant, being repaired, or being built.
Surface prep: Target cracks, filling holes, sanding, texturing and making sure it's clean.
Selection of color: Make sure you know you have enough paint if you're having a major color transformation.
Paint type: We typically recommend eg-shel minimum for walls and semi-gloss minimum for trim or accenting features.
Room specifics: You may need different formulas for different rooms, so double check.
Furniture: Protect it. Get plastic sheeting over everything you don't want painted. Just in case. Even the most careful of people make mistakes.
Paint: Cut-in corners with a brush of the paint color you chose, then cut lines against everything and box it in. For example: if you are painting an accent wall, then take a 2.5 inch wide brush (minimum, larger is fine) and cut against the ceiling, other corners of different walls, against any window or door frames, and at the bottom against any baseboards. Feather it out a few inches so you can take a roller to it and not worry about touching anything with it besides wall.
Roll everything in the same direction so it has an even finish upon drying. If you do this correctly, it will blend correctly and be uniform.
Add more paint if you need it, otherwise, clean up, label your paint, store it correctly (sealed, dry, temperature controlled environment).
