What is a deck?
A structure of planks or plates, horizontally placed, serving as a structural element and forming the floor.
How would I stain a deck? The easy way.
Inspect your deck.
- Broken nails/screws, warped wood, broken wood, unlevel surfaces
Clean the deck.
- Use a deck cleaning product, scrub with hard bristles, and pressure wash carefully
Let the deck dry.
Prep the deck.
- Cover anything you don't want stained, use tape, plastic, paper, drop cloth, etc.
Load your paint sprayer/get brush and roller ready to apply.
- We recommend only using latex through an airless sprayer for less mess.
Stain the deck.
- If too much stain is applied to a spot, use a brush or roller to spread and even it out.
Stain entire boards before moving onto more boards.
- You might have to map out a path so you're not trapped in a corner.
Allow deck stain to dry and reapply in any missed areas.
Let it be fully dry for 48 hours before moving furniture back onto the deck.
- It's a high traffic surface area, so you want to make sure the stain gets a chance to set.
